Bing Turkby brings out new album
Evening Standard, 7 Oct 1998.
BING TURKBY, aka Craig Johnston, will release his latest album - his second this
year - at The Wild Horse Saloon this Saturday night.
Entitled Bing Turkby Meets Moslem Sa, the album features 25 tracks of Turkby
toilings pieced together since the release of Grabs You by the Plimentos
in May this year.
After developing chicken pox and missing the release of Plimentos earlier
this year, the 25-year-old city librarian says he's wrapped himself in cling film
and is staying away from anyone who looks remotely contagious.
He says the album is a bit different from his last.
"I'm trying to incorporate different styles. This one rambles a bit more. There's
a bit more acoustic stuff on it. It's not as in-your-face as Plimentos was."
He says the album also features his monologue between tracks as he talks about Tai
Chi and the philosophies of the art.
Also playing in support on the night will be sonic rockers Fader and Johnston's
other band Simnock on Steel.
