Swampfest '09 Part Two
Jeremy Bryson, Chaff, 18 May 2009.
Second on the bill were the always wacky Bing Turkby Ensemble. Their set was truly
international; first they performed a song in French, with the drummer using
baguettes as drumsticks. Then they performed a song in Japanese. From three
years of studying Japanese at high school, this reviewer felt pretty special knowing
that the line "Watashi wa namae wa Bing Turkby desu" [sic] translates to "My name
is Bing Turkby". ...The wackiness didn't stop there with Bing's set also including
a lolly scramble, and the traditional thumb dance competition (which is exactly
what it sounds like). Conclusion: fun.
